Opportunity Arabia 6
08/10/2009
The Middle East Association (MEA) announces with great pleasure this year’s seminar on Saudi Arabia. The two lead sponsors for the event will be the British Offset Office and the Saudi British Bank (SABB). This is the sixth in this series of highly successful conferences which has gained a position of pre-eminence on the annual London calendar of events; focus attention on the wealth of business opportunities awaiting British exporters of goods and services in the Saudi market place; and provide an ideal networking environment.
Despite the global crisis, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia remains cash rich and relatively unscathed. It has the largest economy in the Middle East, carries the unequalled responsibility of being the OPEC swing producer, and is an international political power and influence in its own right. It has invested heavily in bringing its oil production capacity up to 12 mbd and its embryonic mining sector will, in the course of time, contribute 18% to GDP.
The seminar, as always, will be broadly based covering the fast-growing mining sector; education and training; investment, major projects and taxation issues. There will be a special focus on British business in Saudi Arabia. Sir Alan Munro will bring his depth of experience of the Kingdom to the Seminar chair; and Baroness Symons co-chair of the Saudi–British Joint Business Council will bring to participants her commitment to Saudi Arabia. The SABB Chief Regional Economist will give an overview of the Saudi market. Other speakers, Saudi and British, will be experts in their field.
