H.E. Mr Khaled Abdulaziz Al-Duwaisan GCVO has been Kuwaiti Ambassador to London since 1993 and is the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in London. Previous to his current posting, he was Ambassador to the Netherlands and to Romania. In 1991 H.E. Mr Al-Duwaisan was Chairman of the Kuwait Delegation for the supervision of the demilitarised zone between Iraq and Kuwait. He is currently on the Advisory Board of the Centre of Near & Middle East Studies at SOAS. In January 2009 H.E. Mr Al Duwaisan was presented with an Award of Excellence by the British Business Forum and HM Ambassador to Kuwait for his services to Anglo-Kuwaiti relations.

With its large oil reserves (9% of world total) and massive overseas investments, Kuwait is now focusing on diversifying its economy, speeding up privatisation and encouraging foreign investment with the support of international consultants. Infrastructure and utilities and education & training offer big opportunities, as do financial services, the environment and consumer goods. A number of major projects such as Bubiyan Island Port and the City of Silk are planned. The Kuwait Investment Office and the Kuwaiti private sector are also investing heavily in international markets creating scope for three-way co-operation.
