Ambassadorial Country Briefing - Sudan Tuesday 28th February
Our Ambassador to Sudan, Mr Michael Aron, will be visiting the UK later in the month and he has kindly agreed to meet with our members for a lunchtime briefing on Tuesday 28th February. The event will take place at the MEA offices, 6th Floor, 27 St James's Street, London SW1A 1HA.
The briefing will start 12.30pm with registration and network sandwich lunch. We will invite the Ambassador to speak around 1.15pm for 15-20 mins which will be followed by Q&A. The whole event will finish no later than 2pm.
His Excellency, the Sudanese Ambassador, Mr Mohammed Eltom, will also be joining us and accompanying HM Ambassador Aron will be a delegation of Senior Sudanese businessmen including: Ahmed Elamin Abdellatif - President CTC Group, Anis Haggar - Chairman Haggar Group, Anthony Haggar - CEO Haggar Group, Dr Hania Morsi Fadl OBE - Founder & CEO Khartoum Breast Care Centre, and Hassan Abdelhalim - ARAAK Group.
The timing of this event could not be better. Before handing over the US Presidency to Donald Trump, Barack Obama signed two Executive Orders on 13 January which lift unilateral sanctions on Sudan, effective after 180 days. This means that Sudan will be fully open for trade in all goods and services. In particular, the country seeks foreign investment in the following sectors: education and training; mining; oil; water and waste water management; pharmaceutis; agriculture; infrastructure; finance.
With this imminent development, the MEA has decided, with the encouragement of Post, to follow up its recent December mission with a further mission 22-27 April, for which our briefing session will provide a very useful and instructive backdrop. We strongly encourage you to attend and to take a fresh look at this country of huge potential.
There will be a charge of £30 + VAT for MEA Members and £50 + VAT for MEA Non Members. If you would like to attend please complete the attached registration form and return to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible, so that we can raise an invoice to assist with payment and confirm your attendance. We have limited space available so replies will be dealt with on first come first serve basis.
